Hi Friends,
     You are not going to believe this...I'm on the cover of a magazine!!! That's me sitting down being a good boy. You know how much I've done for the Lupus Foundation of America. I've walked and helped Mom Cindy raise over $16,000.00 this year. Well...they called me to be a "cover boy." Because I like to think of myself as a good guy, I decided to ask Mom Cindy and Little Miss Tully to be on the cover too. Tully decided that she could pretend she was walking for the cover, even though we all know she doesn't like to walk and tends to be a bit lazy. Mom Cindy likes to walk when she's feeling good, so I was ok with her on the cover. They even interviewed her about Controlling Your Life with Lupus and put more pictures of us inside the magazine. I just know I'm going to be famous!!!
     Mom Cindy asked me to thank everybody again for being so thoughtful and generous during our fundraising walk. To date, we have raised $16, 060.00. It is ALL going to help people with lupus and their families, which makes me really happy. Mom Cindy said it is the best birthday present she's ever gotten!
   The fans are calling...gotta go hit the neighborhood and see all my buds.

Wishes Do Come True!

Hi Friends,
Have I got GREAT news...I've met my goal of walking 1010 for Mom Cindy's birthday on 10/10/55. How is that for a birthday present? Mom Cindy's been coming with me (she wears the pedometer) and we've logged 1145 miles since March 1. Now, about Sister Tully...she is flat out lazy. She used to walk around the neighborhood with us, now she only wants to go around one short block. Bad news for her; she's going to have to find something else to give Mom Cindy for her birthday, 'cause I'm not letting her take the credit for my miles!
Mom Cindy said that this year, she got her birthday wish before she even blew out her candles. I don't know much about money (everybody just gives me stuff), but she's all excited about the money she and her family and friends have raised for the Lupus Foundation of America (LFA). This doesn't mean much to me, but she's raised $11,835.00 and has another $3,000.00 in in-kind gifts to LFA. That's almost $15,000.00, all to help people with lupus. She's all excited about meeting both the walking and fundraising goal before her birthday. I think it is great too, 'cause she keeps giving me lots of hugs and doggie treats :) .
Thank you all for all of your help and you'll still see us out walking around...at least two of us enjoy it!

Life is Good....Again!

Hi Friends,

I know, it has been awhile since I've written. That is because Mom Cindy got really sick and had to go to the hospital and have 6 weeks of IV antibiotics. Needless to say, it slowed down our efforts. Good news...she's all better and we're out walking and raising funds for lupus again. Well, most of us...Sister Tully doesn't like the heat (or walking, really), so Mom Cindy and I are doing most of the walking.
We have some new members of our "team" too. Grandmother Pat is helping us with fundraising..thank you so much Pat! She and my "guy" buddy D-tom continue to help in so many wonderful ways! Also Dad Tony and Robbie and our friends at Fidelity Printing have been incredibly patient and generous in helping the Lupus Foundation of America with their printing needs. A big "bark out" to all of you!!!
Time to hit the sidewalks. Mom Cindy will tally our miles soon and you can see our fundraising is also moving right along.

I've Been Thinking.....

Hi Friends,
     You know when Mom Cindy takes me for a walk, I have lots and lots of time to think and ponder things. This week, I've been pondering the Easter Bunny. Last weekend there was all this hoopla over a bunny that sneaks into your house at night and leaves colored eggs in a basket. That makes absolutely no sense to me. Then I thought about another holiday...Thanksgiving and it has a turkey (although it gets eaten :( . So why isn't there a holiday where dogs are special?
     Here's what I've come up with...dogs will take the Fourth of July! You know it is already the "dog days of summer" and people seem to like "hot" dogs, which I'll be in July, so I say dogs of the world unite. On the eve of the Fourth of July, we will sneak around the neighborhood in the dark and leave flags in everyone's yards. We are already checking out all those yards anyway, so it will be perfect!
     I want to tell you that these are all my ideas. Tully doesn't seem to think about much when she's walking around the neighborhood, except about finishing the walk and going back to sleep. I've told you before I'm the Big Boy in the house!
   Special thanks to all of you who have been contributing to our fundraising!!! We are at 10%...hooray for us. Lots of you have been asking me about our walking...well, Mom Cindy and I (sometimes Dad Tony and Tully) have walked 227.85 miles in March. We are on track to do our part, we just need help with the fundraising.

The Big Trip

Hi Friends,

Look closely at the picture of the Capitol. Do you see me.....noooooooooo! Mom Cindy went to Washington, DC to talk to our Senators and Representatives and guess what she did? She left me home. I still can't believe it. After all of the walking I've done for lupus, she went on this walk to the Capitol without me. Now, it would have been ok if she had left my little sis home, but not me...her big boy. Although I'm very upset about this whole thing, I've decided I'm going to keep walking for all of those people who have lupus. It is only by all of us helping out that they will find a cure for that awful disease and help all those nice people that have it. So, I'm putting my hard feelings aside and I'm going to keep walking.

Big Help She Is!

Hi Everyone,
We're back and we are walking for lupus again. We got a little sidetracked last year when Mom Cindy had neck surgery, but we are ready to go now!
You might recall that when I left off I was getting something called a sister...who knew it was another dog and that she could completely upset my beautiful "only dog" status. Well, she has. Word of advise, don't ever ask for a sister.

     Now, about our walk. It is kinda cool this year. Mom Cindy is going to be 55 (don't tell her I told you) on October 10, 2010...10/10/10. I think that is pretty neat, so I've agreed to help her walk 1010 miles (get it, 10-10?) and raise $10,000.00 for the Lupus Foundation of America, Inc. She has lupus, so she wants all this money to go to them so they can help find a cure and support other people like her that have the disease. Unfortunately, I don't have this much money (I've spent all mine on Milk Bones....yummmm), so we need your help. Another D-O-G!

Hi Friends,
Well, just as I suspected, a "sister" is a dog! Her name is Tully (like the gym at FSU) and she's small and brown. I thought it was going to be awful...being an only dog for two years and all, but it is not so bad. She likes to play!!! When I run in the backyard, she chases me; when I pick up the pull toy, she tugs on the other end. Don't tell anyone, but I'm actually finding it more fun to play with her than with my humans. When Mom Cindy isn't running her out to the grass in the front yard, mumbling something about housebreaking, we play together and I even let her nap next to me sometimes. I can't believe I was ever as small as she is.
As an update on our walk; we are doing great. We've logged in lots of miles and have begun to raise money for lupus. I told Mom Cindy that we don't need to walk as far this year, because Tully has 4 legs and we can get her miles this year, too. Her legs are kinda short, so she won't log in too many, but every little bit helps, just like the donations.
We want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. We are so very thankful for all of our family and friends. We appreciate all of your support in our efforts.

Here We Go Again!!!

Hi Friends,

I'm back!!!!

Can you believe it....Mom Cindy has decided we are going to walk to raise money for lupus again! The only good thing is that I really like walking around our neighborhood. We have lots of other dogs that I get to see, but I like seeing their people even more. Lots and lots of them stop to pet me when we go walking...it is just the best!

I've got some other news that I'm not sure about at all. I'm getting something called a "sister". Now, from what I can figure out, it must be another dog, because I saw this pink collar and leash come in the house the other day and surely Mom Cindy wouldn't think I'd want a pink leash. I'm a big BOY now. Did you know I was 2 years old last week??? Well, so far nothing has showed up but the leash and pictures. I included the picture at the top, not because of the "sister," but because she and I have the same dog mom, Savannah. That's her in the picture. Supposedly one of the little brown things is Tully, my new half sister. I'll let you know how all of this works out...she's coming around Halloween.

Off to Morroco!!!

Hi Friends,

I have got a BIG secret.....Mom Cindy is going to visit Jules in Morroco on Monday and she thinks she's going alone. Well, I've decided that I am going to be a stowaway. See, I found her suitcase sitting on the floor and I jumped in and I think I'll fit!!!! I just can't wait to see Jules. The only bad thing is that I hear she has two cats. Now tell me this....who in the world wants cats???? Us dogs are sooooooooo much better!!!! At least they are kittens, so maybe they'll be fun to play with????

So, I might not be answering your e-mails for a little while or posting on the blog, but when we get home we'll have lots and lots of pictures to share; so stay tuned.

Keep your fingers (paws) crossed that Mom Cindy doesn't discover my hiding place before we leave. I think I'd miss her an awful lot if she goes without me!

Happy Easter

Hi Friends,
By now, you have probably heard that we walked over 1,000 miles and raised over $10,000.00 for lupus. Mom Cindy says we are so blessed to have such wonderful friends and family. A big doggie kiss to everyone for helping us. If you want to drop by my house, I'll give it to you in person. I just love giving doggie kisses!!!!
It seems that another human holiday is just around the corner,of course. You humans have LOTS of holidays. Seems you like to celebrate EVERYTHING. Maybe you can celebrate me and my friends one day....Wheaten Week? Landis Coney Day? Dog Days?
What do you think? We could have it in September around my birthday. It doesn't seem there are many other human holidays then.
So, Mom Cindy says the next holiday is Easter. She says it is a religious holiday, whatever that means. It seems that somehow I'm going to get a basket filled with eggs, like the one in the picture. Mom Cindy says the Easter Bunny hides the eggs, then I get to go find them. Sounds like fun. I love to find treasures in the backyard! Not so sure about some big bunny, but we'll see how it goes.

We Did It!!!

Hi Friends,
You just are not going to believe this. Mom Cindy and I have met and exceeded our goals. Would you believe that we have raised $10,540.00 for lupus and walked over 950 miles. Guess what else...I've decided that I really like walking every day! I get to go out, check out all my friends in the neighborhood and enjoy our beautiful weather. So, we've decided that we are going to keep walking every day. I've also decided that I love writing my blog, so I'm going to continue telling you about my life and I'll even tell you any news on the lupus front.
For tonight, I just want to send a great big doggie kiss to all of you who have supported our efforts. Mom Cindy says we never would have done it without you! You've all been so kind and so thoughtful to help us. The money that you have donated will make a very big difference in the lives of all of those people with lupus. Mom Cindy says that some new medicines are suppose to be coming out soon. She's all excited about that ( I'd be more excited about a bone, but hey, to each his own).

Happy Valentine's Day!

Hi Friends,
Well, this is going to come as no surprise...the humans are having another holiday!!! Apparently, this one has to do with love. I love LOVE; especially when it is directed towards ME! From what I can gather, I'm suppose to send Valentines (whatever they are) to all of the humans and dogs that I love. Do you think any of you could come by and take me shopping for Valentines? I think I'd make a big 'ole mess if I try to make them myself. Plus, I've told you before that the shopping thing looks good to me.
Mom Cindy says that we've already gotten our Valentine's present from all of you. You have helped us raise $10,515 dollars for lupus. I'm not sure I get the whole money thing, but I do know that if people with lupus can live better lives and new medications can be found, I'm all for what money can do! A great BIG thank you to all of you for your support and for your LOVE. You are the best!
One last thing to share. You won't believe this one either. Well, remember how much I hate getting my hair done? It almost got worse than usual. There was another Wheaten Terrier there that needs a new home. He is 4 years old and his name is Duggan. I was scared to death that Mom Cindy was going to bring him home. Remember how much I love my love....do you think my humans have enough for two dogs? I kinda like getting all of the love myself!!!
The flowers in the picture are for each of you for Valentine's Day, in case no one comes by to take me shopping for cards.

Hi Friends,
Today is the best day. I'm writing my blog and Mom Cindy didn't make me dress up or pose for a picture. You will be happy to hear that I survived the Gasparilla celebration. Oh boy, I did not like those pirates or the guns that they were shooting. I, for one, am very happy the whole thing is over. I don't like Gasparilla nearly as much as Christmas on the human holiday scale. Do you think Christmas will come again soon? I REALLY like my toys and I've eaten all of my treats. If you see Santa, tell him I'm really, really trying to be a good boy!!!
Guess what else? There is a new Wheaten terrier puppy in the neighborhood...Scooter. He's very cute and likes to play. I'll try to get a picture with him one day soon, so you can see him!
Mom Cindy and Dad Tony have been very sad this week. Two very special people in their lives passed away. I can't imagine how hard it must be for someone you love to go to heaven...even though I know it is a great place! I know they miss their friends, so I've tried to be extra special loving this week. It isn't hard, 'cause I love sitting in Mom Cindy's lap and playing with Dad Tony.
My last bit of news....Mom Cindy and I have less than 100 miles to walk. Can you believe we have walked 822.75 miles since September 30. Honestly, I can, but I'm really just kidding about it being hard. I love my walks! I see all of my friends in the 'hood, get to sniff everything and I even stop and smell the flowers. Mom Cindy always says more humans should stop and smell the flowers like I do!!!

Another Strange Celebration!!!

AHOY MATES,

Living in Tampa, FL is just a thrill a minute! You are not going to believe what the humans are celebrating now. They are celebrating PIRATES....yes, PIRATES. It seems that for some strange reason they have these parades and pirates invade the city. Dad Tony is a pirate, so I just thought I'd be a little pirate, too! All of this is called Gasparilla. I hear it is something like Mardi Gras in New Orleans...like I know what that is! Supposedly it is lots of fun, with beads, floats, 3 parades and fireworks (oh great, I really don't like fireworks!). I'll let you know about it all next time.

As for the walk and the fundraising, Mom Cindy says we are getting REALLY close. We have walked 772.35 miles and raised $7595.00. That is pretty amazing, isn't it??? And think, ALL of this money is going to such a good cause....The Lupus Foundation of America. Won't you be happy when people living with lupus have better lives, because there are new medications? Mom Cindy needs some new medications. The ones she's been taking aren't working as well and she keeps getting all of these ulcers in her mouth. I would hate that 'cause I really like to eat!

Well, I've gotta run. I think the fireworks are tonight! Maybe I could get some earplugs...I do not like the noise they make, especially because it sounds like they are coming right in my house...and you know I'm very protective of my house!

Happy New Year!

Hi Friends,

Well, apparently the humans are now having ANOTHER holiday! This one is even stranger than the last. From what I can tell, this one involves watching football games on tv, yelling for the Noles, staying up very late and eating some weird food. Mom Cindy says it is black-eyed peas and greens and they are for good luck. Whatever....the whole thing seems VERY strange to me!!

But....as for Christmas, I've decided I LOVE that holiday. Santa came (and I didn't even hear him, or bark) and he filled my stocking with presents. I got a new collar and leash. They say PEACE on them and they remind us all of the wonderful work that Jules is doing in the Peace Corps. I also got another ball that squeaks and a few treats (not black-eyed peas, thank goodness). I wonder when Christmas comes again....soon, I hope!

As for the walking, it has been fun. Dad Tony has been going too and we've gone some different places. Lots of new sights, smells and other dogs. Mom Cindy keeps track of our miles and we are doing really good. Can you believe we have walked 650.19 miles? Our miles have taken us past Fayetteville, NC, so far. Not too much farther to DC. I was peeking over Mom Cindy's shoulder when she was looking at the map and noticed it is only a 14 hour drive from Tampa to DC. It is taking us over 5 months. Why do you think we are walking instead of driving??? Again, humans can be so strange!!!

I Got A Present!!!

Hi Friends,

Guess what??? (Yes, Mom got me reindeer antlers, oh goodie!) I got a present from my doggie friends, Spanky, Chanel and Grizzly! They brought me a whole bag of the best stuff....treats, toys, even a light you chase around the house. I think I'm going to like Christmas a whole bunch. Bring on the reindeer, the Santas and even the Christmas trees; silly as it seems to have a tree in the house!

Mom Cindy and I want to thank all of you for your very special gifts to the Lupus Foundation of America. We are the ones doing the walking, but you are the ones who are contributing to research to find the cure for lupus. Mom Cindy could really use some new medicine too. The ones she has been taking are making her feel kind of yucky sometimes. She and the other 1.5 million lupus patients in America REALLY appreciate your help!!!

One more thing! I've figured out where squirrels go. Every day lately, I walk around the neighborhood and all of these squirrels scamper across the sidewalk in front of me. I thought they crosssed the sidewalk, then disappeared. You won't believe this...they climb up trees! Who would have thought that! I followed one and right up the tree it went. Wish I could do that! Mom Cindy and Dad Tony said I don't have a hunting bone in my body...whatever that means!

Well, that's about enough for tonight. Hope you all have a VERY Merry Christmas! Santa should be good to you, 'cause you've been helping others. I'll let you know what I get. I just know something will be in my stocking Christmas morning, 'cause Mom Cindy always says I'm a good boy!!!

Hi All,

You won't believe what the humans are up to now. Yesterday, I'm minding my own business and they bring a tree in the house...yes, a tree! Then, you won't believe it, they act like this tree is very special and they start hanging all of these balls all over it. They seem very proud of the whole thing, so I guess I'll just go along with it...whatever makes them happy!

Tonight the human family all came over to eat dinner and sit and look at this tree. That is one of my Ally cousins in the picture (in front of the "special" tree). I'm a lucky dog 'cause I have two Ally cousins. Humans can be so strange...I only have two human girl cousins and they are both named Allison. This is the young one. She's a blast, 'cause she chases me around the yard and plays with me. The other one is a older and she doesn't chase me...she did comment that she liked my shopping blog though! Mom Cindy loves both of them a whole bunch.

On the lupus front, no new medicines yet. Mom Cindy really, really wants some new ones. The ones she takes now cause all kinds of problems. That's why we are doing all this walking. To raise money for research.

A Dog's Life

Hi Everybody, Hope you all had a good Thanksgiving. I did, but that turkey never did land in my dish! I know that as you have been reading these posts, you probably think that I just lounge around the house all day. Well....that could not be farther from the truth. I have some very serious responsibilities around here. First, it is my responsibility to warn the humans about the intruders, which includes all of the envelopes that someone sticks through the hole in the door everyday. This is the job that I take most seriously. I try to warn Mom Cindy when I hear the mail truck coming down the street, then I bark and bark when he is in my driveway, if she still doesn't get it, I personally attack the invading mail. You know, you just can't be too careful about stuff getting in your house! Also, every day while Mom Cindy is getting dressed, I sit on the edge of her bed and look out the window to make sure there are no invaders coming to our house. (That's me guarding the house in the picture) Every Tuesday someone comes with these big noisy machines and does something to the greass, then blows all the leaves around. I give them a real piece of my mind every week, but they still keep coming! I do not like people messing with my yard! I have also taken it upon myself to be personally responsible for all socks in the house. If someone drops one, I grab it up and run put it away under the bed (the man cave), if someone happens to leave a pair on the bed....fair game, into the man cave they go. It is kinda fun to watch Mom Cindy and Dad Tony try to catch me to get it back though! So you see, life as a dog in the Coney household is a huge responsibility. So far, I think I've exceeded everyone's expectations of my jobs :) Last thing (I feel a bit chatty tonight) we've walked over half way to Washington DC and have raised almost half of our money for lupus...I am pretty proud even though I have tired tootsies!!! Hi,

This is a very special week. Mom Cindy told me that Thursday is Thanksgiving. (She has to tell me these things 'cause I don't keep a calendar!) She explained about all of the turkey and food and stuff and it sounds great! Maybe some will end up in my bowl, instead of that dry old stuff I usually get.

She also told me that it is a time to be thankful for things. So, I thought real hard (a bit challenging for me) and I came up with a list of 5 things I'm thankful for. Here they are:

1. Mom Cindy's lap

2. My toy basket-and Dad Tony and D-tom to play with me with them

3. My big backyard to run in

4. My "man cave" It is my secret hiding place under Mom Cindy and Dad Tony's bed. When I get something I'm not suppose to have I run, run and hide under there with it...shhhhh, don't tell them, it is my stash.

5. My friends in the neighborhood...both human and canine (see, I can use big words)

Mom Cindy said I should add all of you who have been so generous with your support of our walk for lupus...so you can be #6 on my list. We know we wouldn't be raising any money if it wasn't for each of you!

So, have a Happy Thanksgiving, pray some turkey ends up in my dish and thanks again for being the blessings behind our walk.

I learned something new! I learned what "shopping" is. Mom Cindy left the house empty handed and she came back with a brown bag. She opened it and inside were presents for ME!!! I got a new Christmas collar and leash AND a Christmas stocking. Mom Cindy says that if I'm good, Santa will fill my stockings with presents. It sounds great, but being good until Christmas might be kinda tough for me. What do you think happens if you're almost good??? I'll try my hardest, but since I'm still a kid, being good ALL the time might be impossible. I do think I'm going to like Christmas though. WOW, what's better than bones and balls and stuff in your stocking???

We're STILL walking. It is pretty nice now that is has cooled off a bit. You know wearing this fur coat all of the time makes me a bit hot in the summer. I think winter walking will be more to my liking.

Guess who's coming to play with me this week. D-tom! He's my human grandfather and I love to play with him. When I hear him coming I run grab my toys! He lets me run in the backyard and jump on him and kiss him...he's the best!

Hi Friends,

YIPEE!!!!! Mom Cindy and I have raised over $4000.00 with your help. We're smilin' cause that means more money to find the cause and cure for lupus!

Remember when I promised I'd introduce you to more of my friends...well, today you get to meet one of my guy friends-Corky. Corky lives right around the corner from me and every morning I get to walk by his house. The best days are when he's out and we get to sniff around in his yard together. I see his human Mom Elizabeth everyday, too. She's the best 'cause she lets me jump on her and give her "wheatie" kisses in the face! You know how much I like to do that :) It is hard to believe that some people don't like it very much!

Guess what, I also got to talk (ok-bark) to my human sister, Jules, yesterday. She's in the Peace Corps in Morocco and Mom Cindy, Dad Tony and I really miss her. By the time she gets home in 2 years, I'm really going to be all grown up. She's doin' good though, so we're all happy for her.

My First Trick or Treat!!!

Yipee, yipee, yipee....I'm going Trick or Treating. Last year I was only a month old and still living with my dog Mom, Savannah, in North Carolina. But Mom Cindy LOVES holidays, so we went shopping today and I got this adorable Pirate Costume. Just imagine opening your door and seeing ME sitting outside! Hope you've got your dog treats ready. You know I love kids and Mom Cindy said all the neighborhood kids come out too. I'm not sure life gets any better than this. I hope Weds. comes quickly...I'm ready to go!

We're asking all of our friends and family to make donations instead of giving gifts this Christmas (Mom Cindy's idea, you can still sneak me a bone, if you want). Mom got a "treat" during her last doctor's visit. Now she has to get a drug for osteoporosis IV every month. A new medicine has been approved...Reclast...and she only has to get it IV once a year. Wow...more time to play with me :)

You Won't Believe It!

Hi Friends,
Get this.....Mom Cindy comes home very late last night from a trip. She loves on me a bit; we get up this morning and go for a walk; THEN she takes me to get groomed! I couldn't believe it. I hate getting groomed. I just don't understand why Mom Cindy and Dad Tony like me lookin' good. So I have a few mats and tangles in my coat...maybe dreadlocks would be an option! What do you think?
As if that isn't bad enough, she takes that silly looking picture of me soaking wet. Between you and me, look closely, I'm sticking out my tongue at her, but don't tell her. I really love my Mom Cindy, but this being beautiful thing just isn't fun.
Oh yeah, you're probably reading this to find out about our walk. Remember I was going to take it easy while Mom Cindy was gone? Well, Dad Tony took me on my walks...apparently I behave better after a walk :)

I've Got New Neighbors!!!

Hi Friends,

Thanks to all of you who have donated to this very long walk! We're STILL walking. Today Mom Cindy and Dad Tony said I was "full of energy" so they took me on their whole walk....5.3 miles. WHEW...whatever "full of energy" means, I think I need to tone it down, or I'll be worn out from all of this walking!!!

I've got more good news. I've got new next door neighbors....DOG neighbors!!! Three of them, in one house. You can see their picture. Aren't they adorable??!!?? In the picture, Chanel is on the left, then Spanky, then Grizzly. They travel with their human (and very nice) mom Janine to California, but they are home now. When they are gone, I check EVERY day to see if they are back. I just can't believe I lucked into 3 dog neighbors!!!!

Mom Cindy got her Lupus Now magazine and she's been reading it. If you ever want to know anything about Lupus, you can ask her. After 27 years, I'm sure she can answer your questions!

That's all my news for now. I've got a secret though...Mom Cindy is going out of town and I'm planning to be lazy while she's gone...shhhhhhhhhhhh....we'll just keep that a secret, 'cause I know she'll be out walking.

I Went on a Trip!!

Hi Friends,
Guess what? I got to go to Tallahassee! Dad Tony's birthday is today and Mom Cindy's birthday is Weds., so we went up to spend time with Carolyn (my human sister). I got to play with my two cousins, Cloud and Dax...I'll tell you more about them and show you a picture in another post. I have to get to the most exciting news now....I went walking around FSU campus and...you won't believe it....they named a building and a big green after me!!!!! That's me in front of the sign. I have more pictures from campus for later, but couldn't wait to share this one with you.
Other good news...Mom Cindy didn't make me walk to far. I guess when you are going to be her age...364 years old in dog years, you don't walk too far EVERY day!!!! Oh, Happy Days!

Hi Friends,

My tails a waggin' and I'm jumpin' for joy (I'm always jumping and it gets me in trouble sometimes!). Mom Cindy and I have raised $2025.00 with everyone's help, so far. Also, I got to see my girlfriend, Bella today. Isn't she beautiful?

Let me tell you a little about Bella. She is three months older than I am (she's a Wheaten Terrier, too). She's very special to the Coney family, because after Pooh Bear Coney died, Bella walked by everyday and Mom got to hold her and love on her, until I came along! Well, after I came along, I just couldn't believe how beautiful she was. She has a really nice human family, too; I especially like her human brothers Cameron and Chandler! They ALWAYS play with me, when I walk by their house. Boy kids are some of my favorites 'cause they don't care if I jump on them and they love to run and play.

About the walking...it is coming along GREAT, according to Mom Cindy. Personally, the only part I really like about walking is visiting all my "buds" in the neighborhood, but I keep reminding myself that I'm doing this for all of those people with lupus. If you'd ever like to walk with Mom Cindy, I'd be happy to let you go in my place.

Hi Friends,

Today was another great day. Today it rained off and on all day. Why do I think that is so great? Because Mom Cindy could only take me on short little walks, then I got to come home and cool off before she drug me around the neighborhood again. Yes, scattered showers has just become my favorite phrase!

Mom Cindy had some doctor's appointments today...that is one of the things about her lupus...they always have to check to make sure her medications aren't making her sick. That seems kind of crazy to me...I thought medicine made you well. She just keeps saying she wished there was some medicine that didn't have so many side effects. She's hopeful that will happen soon. Apparently, that is why she's dragging me around the neighborhood!

I had a thought today...yes, only one....I thought you might like to know how I got my name. Well, I'm named for the big green in the middle of the Florida State University campus. You see Dad Tony, Mom Cindy and my human sisters, Carolyn and Julianne all went to FSU. Landis is the name they could all agree on. I also thought you might like to see my puppy picture, so I included it today, as well.

Good Thing I'm So Cute

Hi Friends,

My tail is wagging and I'm happy as can be today! I especially want to thank all of our friends for being so generous with your contributions. I have to tell you that I'm really happy they came in yesterday and today, because otherwise, I would be in BIG trouble. Mom Cindy went out for awhile after our walk today and I had a blast. I got into she and Dad's bedroom and I got into what mom calls "mischief." I thought it was just called having fun when I pulled some clothes all over the house, chewed up some of Dads toiletries, destroyed a few hangers...just an overall good time. Well, I could tell when Mom Cindy got home that she wasn't any too happy with me. She just kept saying, "Good thing you are so cute." I've never thought much about my looks, but apparently they matter a great deal to my mom! If y'all hadn't sent your contributions today she said she might have "skinned me alive," so thanks again for those donations!!!!! The walking is coming well. I'm trying to line up a few of my friends for photos, so you can get to know them. I think you'll enjoy meeting my friends in the "hood"...so stay tuned.

We are Walking for Lupus...Please Help Us

Hi,
If you've reached my blog, you probably know by now that my human mom, Cindy, and I are walking 916 miles around our neighborhood by March 10, 2008 to help support finding the cause and cure for lupus and to support all people touched by the disease. You can find out all about that at http://www.firstgiving.com/cindyconey. We'd LOVE to have your support!!!!
Why did Mom Cindy choose to walk 916 miles (I think she's crazy, but....)and March 10, 2008? Apparently, on March 10, 2008, the Lupus Foundation of America (LFA) will have hundreds, if not thousands of lupus patients and their families visit their Senators and Representatives to inform them about lupus and ask for their support. It is 916 miles from our house in Tampa, FL to the steps of Capitol Hill...so Mom Cindy and I are going to walk the distance around the neighborhood. You'll be able to follow our progress on this blog.
You'll also get to share the experience with me. I'll introduce you to all of my dog friends in the neighborhood and hopefully some will even let me post their pictures! You'll love seeing them, I have some really cute friends :)
As the reason for supporting lupus, Mom Cindy has lupus. She takes LOTS of medicine, but takes great care of me, so I'm willing to help her on this endeavor :) If you want to learn more about lupus you can visit www.lupus.org. Mom Cindy is Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of the Lupus Foundation of America. She would really like for research to find some new medications for lupus, since a new medication hasn't come out for lupus in 40 years and the ones she takes make her feel yucky sometimes. Your contribution can help make her dream come true!
I don't walk quite as far as Mom Cindy, so I'll be keeping the blog. We'll share all kinds of fun things and even post who our "Top Dog" donors are!
